If you were on social media last year, you saw this decadent whipped coffee take the internet by storm. Why? Because these gorgeous, fluffy, golden peaks topping ice and milk, reminded us of going out to get coffee with friends, paying $7 for the fanciest drink on the menu. The best part, is that this bougie dalgona coffee is ready in just three minutes, and costs pennies to make at home!
One key tool to make this decadent whipped coffee get those signature caramel peaks, is an electric hand mixer. A food blogger friend of mine hilariously made her dalgona coffee by whisking by hand; a process that took about fifteen minutes and her arm nearly falling off. Have you ever made whipped cream by hand? I haven’t either. So let’s all just stick to electric hand mixers.
Decadent Whipped Coffee (Dalgona)
Equipment
- Hand mixer
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp instant coffee
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp hot water
- Milk of choice- I like coconut
- Ice
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water, on high for 2-3 minutes. The coffee will gradually get lighter and fluffier. I like mine to have stiff peaks, which takes about 3 minutes.
- Fill two glasses 3/4 full with ice. Pour in the milk, also about 3/4 full. Spoon the whipped coffee over the milk. Swirl the coffee into the milk and sip through a straw. The resulting caramel-y, slightly bittersweet, creamy coffee, will be everything you need to feel a little fancy, from the comfort of your own kitchen.
